Here is a sample of my kitchen staples that are wheat free, soy free, corn free, gluten free, and most are low sodium. They add the flavour to our meals along with our spices (spices are for another day).
Maleny Cuisine Chilli Jam
This is a good substitute when a recipe calls for sweet chilli sauce, there is also a sweet chilli sauce in the range but I try to reduce the jars in the fridge. It is also great on lamb or pork.
Maleny Cuisine Tomato Relish
I use this instead of tomato sauce (not in recipes) on hamburgers, sausage rolls, eggs. It has heaps more flavour.
Garnisha Range Curry Pastes
These are magic jars of awesomeness. The range of curries are great, no additives and most have no salt added. When using them you do need to add something else for depth of flavour, like stock.
Jamie Oliver’s Balsamic Drizzles
A great flavour adder when sweet and vinegar flavour required, I use it in my spagbol (sorry can’t call it spaghetti bolognese as mine is certain no where near the traditional), also great as the old balsamic plate drizzle.
Salt Skip Stocks
These are in all low salt cupboards……though you must be careful as the recommended serve quantities don’t have enough powder in them, lack any stock flavour if water is used. Think about the natural liquids in your meal and add powder accordingly.
Woolworth’s Select Brand Stocks
Ready to use stock with low salt, but expensive. If you need quality stock to boost a soup they are are great.
L’Abruzzese Khorasan Pastas
Luckily my daughter’s intolerance is to wheat, khorasan or kamut is far enough on the outer of the wheat family to be tolerable. This pasta has a texture and flavour of wholemeal pasta.
Asian Rice based Macaroni
Mac ‘n cheese is alive and kicking.
Bun Giang Tay – straight rice noodles – various brands
Great substitute for Asian soups that have wheat noodles.
Changs Gluten Free Wok Ready Noodles
Noodle for Udon or quick stir fry. Definitely not low salt.
Vitality Bakery Pizza Base
Again not low salt but is gluten free, wheat free, soy free, and corn free. My daughter’s saviour for the pizza nights with surf club and school trips.
Beanfield’s Bean & Rice Chips
Corn chips are out…..bean and rice chips are in……nachos is definitely in….
